Azalea Bank

These ancient old azaleas are the most wonderful characters and their twisted crooked branches, covered in lichen, are incredibly beautiful throughout the year. In May/June they are at their climax, but many of them also have good autumn colour. These beautiful old shrubs are under-planted with bulbs, self-sowing annuals and tough perennials in true Robinsonian “wild garden” style. The view of the azalea bank from the flower garden is always impressive as it gives the sense of the wild garden tumbling down to you.
