This is the engine room of the garden, and makes everything we do possible. We have five Victorian glass houses and we consider it a privilege to work with such rare and beautiful buildings. Roughly half of the glass house space is used to propagate and grow plants for the garden and the other half is used to grow crops for the kitchens. The largest and most magnificent glass house is the peach house, which had almost totally fallen down a few years ago. After a long and costly re-building project the glass house has now been totally restored, with careful historic accuracy. Four new peach trees are now growing away inside and soon we should be harvesting our first crop.
