The Resilience Garden wins Gold
RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2019
We are absolutely thrilled to announce that The Resilience Garden which we have sponsored at this years RHS Chelsea Flower show has received a Gold Medal and also the Best Construction Award.
Designed by Sarah Eberle to celebrate the Forestry Commission's centenary, the garden looks ahead to the biggest challenges facing forests of the future and exploring how they can be more resilient to a changing climate. Inspired by William Robinson, who was deeply supportive of public forestry and on his estate at Gravetye, the garden features exotic planting alongside native species - specially selected to thrive in habitats that mimic the probable effects of climate change.
Natural materials including boulders, stone and gravel reflect the garden's rural setting.
Many of the plants used in the garden were grown by our Head Gardener Tom and his team. Tom was also involved in the planting ahead of show week.
Congratulations to everyone who made this garden happen, the team at Gravetye Manor has been very proud to be part of it!
