Hotel Accessibility at Gravetye Manor

Gravetye Manor dates back to 1598 and its history and heritage are very much part of what makes the house and estate so special, however this does also present some challenges. To ensure we cater for all our guests’ needs we ask that you call in advance to discuss any special requirements you may have with our team, so we can do everything possible to ensure you have an enjoyable and comfortable stay. Please note that we do not have a lift and all our guest bedrooms are on the first and second floors.

Enquiries and reservations may be made by telephone and email or via our web site.

We would welcome the opportunity to discuss your requirements prior to arrival.

Directions to the hotel can be found on our website under ‘contact us’ or we can post, email or fax them to you.

Parents with children over the age of seven are most welcome to stay and dine at Gravetye Manor. We only welcome children under seven for private events, either exclusive use or to dine in one of our private rooms, please contact our event co-ordinator regarding our facilities for small children.

Babes in arms are welcome to stay in their parents room, for whom cots are provided. A baby sitter can be arranged with prior notice.

Parking is directly outside the front of the hotel; to the left of the front entrance is a dedicated space to park a car for a guest with mobility issues.

The car park has a gravel surface.

For wheelchair access please notify us prior to arrival and we will assist with directing the car to the hotel side entrance by the ‘little garden’  Porter assistance is available for both cars and luggage.

There are seven steps to the main front door.

From the front door there is one step and then two steps to reception and the main dining room.

Ramps are available for these areas on request.

Wheelchair access is through the ‘little garden’ where there is York stone sloped paving taking you through to the garden entrance of the cocktail bar, from where there is access to the main sitting room with one small step.

The main dining room and two private dining rooms are all on the same level of the cocktail bar.

Our ground floor corridors are wide enough to accommodate a wheelchair and the hotel has a ramp to assist with internal steps.

We do not have a lift and all our guest bedrooms are on the first and second floors.

Situated on the ground floor is a toilet suitable for wheelchair access.

Full waiter service is provided at all times.

Please let us know in advance if you have any special dietary needs or would like to have your food in a simpler style.

A page magnifier is available on request.

There is ample moveable seating and there are chairs without arms.

There is York stone paving around the flower garden which is suitable for wheelchairs, further from this there are steps to other areas of the garden.

The walled vegetable garden can, if required, be accessed via car and a gravel drive. From here access to the walled garden can be made without steps.

During summer months light lunches and afternoon tea can be taken in the garden.

In the event of evacuation, bells will ring continuously. If you require assistance in case of an emergency evacuation, please notify us on arrival.
